Bitdefender vs CrowdStrike: GravityZone and Falcon compared for lean IT teams

Disclosure: this site reviews Bitdefender GravityZone and earns a commission if you sign up for it through our links. We earn nothing from CrowdStrike Falcon. The figures below come from each company's own pages and the test labs, with the dates checked.
For a small or mid-size business that wants strong prevention without a security team, GravityZone is the better buy. It costs less per device at every published tier, and in three years of AV-Comparatives business tests it was compromised 3 times to Falcon's 28, with far fewer false alarms.
CrowdStrike is the better pick if you want monthly billing, published EDR pricing, 24/7 threat hunting bundled at $184.99 a device, or the vendor most analysts rank as a leader. It also did well in MITRE's 2025 evaluation, which Bitdefender sat out.

Price: what 10 devices cost
Both vendors publish list prices for their small-business tiers. For 10 devices for a year, GravityZone Small Business Security costs $324.99 and Business Security $384.99, from Bitdefender's store. On CrowdStrike's pricing page, Falcon Go costs $599.90 and Falcon Pro $999.90 for the same 10 devices on annual billing. Neither entry tier includes EDR.
The gap narrows at the top. Falcon Enterprise, at $184.99 per device, adds EDR and CrowdStrike's OverWatch threat hunting. Bitdefender doesn't publish a price for its EDR tier, Business Security Enterprise, so you need a quote to compare.
CrowdStrike offers something Bitdefender doesn't sell direct: monthly billing ($7.99 per device for Go). The catch is in its order terms: monthly plans get no refund, and renewals are charged at “then-standard” prices. Bitdefender sells 1 to 3-year terms, with a 30-day refund on first orders.
Protection in independent tests
AV-Comparatives tests both products twice a year in its Business Security Test, using CrowdStrike Falcon Pro and GravityZone. Across the six reports from 2023 to 2025, Falcon was compromised more often and raised more false alarms in every one. In the August to November 2025 round the lab named CrowdStrike among the products with “above-average numbers of FPs” (report). False alarms matter more than they sound for a small IT team: each one is a ticket and sometimes a blocked business app.
In the 2025 Advanced Threat Protection test, both blocked all 15 targeted attacks, but Bitdefender stopped 13 before they ran and Falcon 7. In the 2025 Endpoint Prevention and Response test, Bitdefender was the only one of 12 products to block every scenario at the first stage; Falcon Elite missed 4 of 50.
MITRE's results point the other way, and the two vendors took part in different years. In the 2025 Enterprise evaluation, Falcon detected all 90 scored attack steps with technique-level detail and reported none of the 17 benign test steps as threats. Bitdefender didn't participate in 2025; it did in 2024, when CrowdStrike sat out. In MITRE's 2024 managed services evaluation, where both took part, Bitdefender sent 82 alerts and CrowdStrike 579, with similar coverage (41 and 42 steps reported).
Deployment and day-to-day management
Falcon runs only from CrowdStrike's cloud. GravityZone can run from Bitdefender's cloud or from a console on your own servers, which is the deciding factor for air-gapped plants, labs, and some government networks.
On performance, the labs split. In AV-Comparatives' March to June 2025 round, Falcon had the lighter footprint (impact score 26.2 to Bitdefender's 32.8); in the August to November round, Bitdefender did (26.5 to 30.5). Reviewers of both name the console as the main thing to improve. On Falcon:
“It almost takes an expert in the platform to be able to extract the information that you need.”reviewer2894523, PeerSpot, September 2026
GravityZone draws the same complaint, and slow support is the other theme in its reviews. Read its critical reviews before you decide.
The July 2024 outage
On July 19, 2024, a faulty CrowdStrike content update crashed Windows machines worldwide; Microsoft estimated 8.5 million devices. CrowdStrike's root cause analysis traced it to a mismatch in a sensor template, and the company now stages content updates and lets customers control their timing. Delta's lawsuit is still in discovery, per CrowdStrike's July 2026 quarterly filing.
Six of the 40 recent Falcon reviews we read mention it, mostly as something they got past. Bitdefender had its own bad update, in 2010, and patched serious console vulnerabilities in April 2025 (see is Bitdefender legit).
What reviewers say about each
We couldn't read CrowdStrike's scores on G2, Gartner Peer Insights, Capterra, or TrustRadius for this update, so the like-for-like source here is PeerSpot. CrowdStrike Falcon rates 4.4 out of 5 from 173 reviews (97% would recommend); GravityZone Business Security 4.3 from 16 (92%), and GravityZone EDR 4.2 from 62. Read the samples with care: 36 of the 40 most recent Falcon reviews were paid interviews, mostly collected in the first days of September 2026, while 34 of 77 GravityZone reviews come from Bitdefender partners or resellers (their average, 8.45 out of 10, is close to customers' 8.51).
Price is the most common Falcon complaint, followed by the console:
“device control, firewall management, and file analysis are standalone products that we need to purchase separately”Waleed Omar, PeerSpot, May 2025
“Documentation is abysmal and needs to be improved dramatically.”Jacob White, PeerSpot, September 2026
Where CrowdStrike Falcon wins
- Published prices for every self-serve tier, including EDR, and monthly billing from $7.99 a device.
- Falcon Enterprise bundles EDR with 24/7 OverWatch threat hunting at a listed price.
- Mobile protection for iOS and Android is included from the cheapest tier.
- A strong 2025 MITRE Enterprise result: all 90 scored attack steps detected, no false positives.
- Bigger analyst footprint (a Leader in Gartner's Magic Quadrant, per CrowdStrike) and a far larger review base.
- Falcon Complete MDR carries a warranty of up to $2 million, against $100,000 for Bitdefender MDR.
- AV-TEST's 2025 Best macOS Security award for corporate users.
Who should pick Bitdefender GravityZone
Small and mid-size businesses buying on prevention and price, teams that can't chase false alarms, and anyone who needs an on-premises or air-gapped console. The trade-off is setup time and slower support, so plan for both or buy through a partner.
